Rachael Ray Show Iced Up for February Sweeps

by Tracey Thompson on February 1st, 2008

Just saw on the news wire the line-up for the Rachael Ray Show during February Sweeps.  Yesterday she kicked it all off with Rachael Ray On Ice.  I thought that maybe there would be a Rachael look alike singing and skating around with some freakish characters prancing around with her….no, such luck.

The set was on the Bryant Park Ice Rink (pictured above) with chairs and even her stove carved from ice.  I was scratching my head to figure out how they did that one.  It was interesting, but I thought the whole concept was rather lame.  The draw needed to be much more than the “first talk show on ice”.  Do you think that maybe there is a reason why no one has ever done it before?  The content was lack luster and the whole thing reminded me of a Sorority or Frat event that they would organize on a college campus.

But despite what I think, I am sure her fans loved it and her line-up of stars looks interesting.  Probably, the best draw is her give-aways which run during the month of February.

Here’s the scoop:

This February the hit syndicated daytime show, “Rachael Ray,” is helping viewers shake off those winter blues with the hottest celebrity guests, informative segments, quick and easy recipes and the first ever talk show on ice!

On January 31, as a kickoff to Sweeps, the show will air a exciting episode called, “Rachael Ray on Ice,” taped entirely from The Pond at Bryant Park Ice Skating Rink in New York City. This winterized event comes complete with Rachael on skates, a kitchen and set sculpted out of ice, arctic animals and special guests Denis Leary, New York Rangers legend Adam Graves, and Olympic Figure Skater Emily Hughes!

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, football fever tackles the “Rachael Ray” show when three gridiron greats go head-to-head in a “Super Bowl Recipe Playoff.” On the February 1st show, New York Giant’s legend Ottis Anderson, Atlanta Falcon’s Quarterback Joey Harrington, and New York Jet’s Offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson put their family recipes to the test in a cook-off judged by superstar chef Mario Batali.

Everyday in February, Rachael and her friends are sharing a few of their most treasured things as part of the show’s “February Favorites” giveaways. “Rachael Ray” show audience members will be treated to the gifts, gadgets, foods and fashion Rachael and her guests can’t get enough of.

Plus, Rachael opens her home to a slew of celebrity friends, including Ringo Starr, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brooke Shields, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Paula Abdul, Dennis Quaid, Jeff Probst, Mary-Louise Parker, Kate Walsh, Larry The Cable Guy, Sam Waterston, Bindi Irwin, Oprah’s health guru Bob Greene and Howie Mandel who comes by to play “Meal or No Meal.”
