Eating Royally

Eating Royally

Darren McGrady, who was a personal chef for the Queen and Princess Diana, has written a cookbook Eating Royally.  The cookbook includes all the favorite recipes of the Royals, most especially Princess Diana.

Inspired by her life, Chef Darren McGrady donated his advance and 100% of the royalties to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.  I hope not only the recipes, but the charitable gift prompts you to go purchase this cookbook.

Princess Diana’s favorite dessert was Bread and Butter Pudding:

This pudding was Princess Diana’s all-time favorite, so much so that she once had a royal reporter write that “Darren makes the best bread and butter pudding in the world.” Well, I am not sure it is the best in the world—but it’s up there! The final texture is a cross between a bread pudding and a crème brûlée.

Another Royal favorite is the Summer Pudding.  This is a great way to use the Summer fruits.  McGrady said that the Royal Gardens would bear so much fruit that this dessert became a weekly staple.

You can purchase Eating Royally at your local bookseller and Amazon.
