Cat Cora Cooks From the Hip

Cat Cora is probably mostly known for her position as Executive Chef of Bon Appetit magazine and as one of the Iron Chef’s on Food Network.
Cat Cora grew up in a strong Greek household in the South, graduated in Exercise Physiology and Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She later graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and then continued her work and study in France.
Her most recent accomplishment is her new book, Cooking from the Hip: Fast, Easy, Phenomenal Meals. This is her second cookbook. Cooking from the Hip is well-organized for the home cook. She has set-up the cookbook in four categories.
In her interview with Orlando Sentinal’s Heather Mcpherson she says:
In Cooking From the Hip: Fast, Easy, Phenomenal Meals (Houghton Mifflin, $30), she maximizes that approach to give home cooks a leg up on the challenge of getting dinner on the table.
“I understand the stress of time and raising children,” she says. “I’m a working mom. That’s why the book is in four categories: fast — thirty minutes or less; easy — interruption-proof; fun — food you can prepare with friends; and phenomenal — special dishes for special meals.”
Her approach eases the novice cook into more-complex recipes so that successes are easily realized.
“It’s all about using the resources and ingredients you have,” Cora says.
