Childhood Obesity Getting Help from Foundation

There has been a great deal of news and shows regarding the epidemic of childhood obesity in recent months.

Today the news has gotten a little better.  The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is prepared to donate $500 million…yes, that is 5-0-0   M-I-L-L-I-O-N dollars…towards programs that help children fight this epidemic.

“If we don’t turn this epidemic around and halt the rise in childhood obesity, we’re going to have the first generation of kids who actually are sicker and die younger than their parents,” says Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the foundation.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is one of the world’s largest philanthropic organizations dedicated to promoting health and health-care for all Americans.  Robert Wood Johnson hails from the Johnson & Johnson family and company.  30 years ago he founded the foundation and donated the majority of his money to it.
