Food Network Awards Show Airs April 15th

The first ever Food Network Awards Show will air on Sunday, April 15th at 9:00pm EST. Your host is Emeril Lagasse.
According to some, it will probably not be worth changing channels from Desperate Housewives to watch.
Charles Passy is the Hungry Man at the Palm Beach Post.com. He attended the Food Network Southbeach Wine and Food Festival and blogged daily about the happenings.
According to his blog entry from the weekend, the awards show, which sadly cost $80 for the general public, was boring, poorly run and had some lame categories, like, “Delicious Destinations”. The James Beard Foundation this obviously was not.
He was disappointed in how poor most of the celebrities from the Food Network did. He said that except for Emeril and Paula Deen, most just were not that impressive on the stage. Of course, a highlight is that Catherine Zeta-Jones was their, promoting a movie.
Between all the stops and starts for sound and lighting cues, the technical glitches (Emeril actually had to re-present an award after the show was finished because he mispronounced something) and the general confusion, it took about three hours for the show to be done (and I believe it’s only a 90 minute broadcast — it’s slated to air April 15). If you add in the fact that most of the crowd arrived well in advance for the “red carpet” deal (which, believe it or not, featured food mascots like Tony the Tiger and KFC’s Col. Sanders), that meant people were there for four to five hours.
I would say, that unless there is truly nothing on, save your energy for something more worthwhile. I myself will probably make good use of my DVR, that way I can get through the ordeal much faster. I’ll let you know what I think.

If you live in the East or Midwest, you could TIVO the late feed of it. Or, if you are really lucky, you can watch it and Desperate Housewives or Cold Case in split screen.
