25 Great Foodie Gift Ideas: #21 Chocolate Fountain

The Chocolate Fountain has become the gift du jour for most, but despite that it may seem passe, there is a reason for its mass appeal…it is a great idea.

I have been to several parties where they have used a chocolate fountain and it has a nice presentation along with…duh, it is delicious.

This is a great gift for someone who entertains a lot.  I have a sister with teenage children.  They always have a bunch of kids over at their house for parties.  They will get a lot of use out of it.  Not only is it great for chocolate, you can use these with a variety of sauces, like caramel, cheese, even BBQ sauce.

There are a bunch of different kinds out there varied in price.  I have seen them for as little as $20 up to $200.  I suppose it really depends on who you are purchasing it for.  Just make sure you get the type that will take just regular chocolate chips or chocolate chunks.  Some require you to get a special powder…which may be hard to find later on.  From what I have read the more expensive ones are better because they are easier to use and just built better.  But I have had experiences with the less expensive ones and they worked fine.  They are a little nosier and you have to make sure that the chocolate is completely melted or it won’t flow well.  You probably get what you pay for.

You can find chocolate fountains at stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target and Macy’s.  They can also be found on Amazon and through various manufacturers.
