25 Great Foodie Gifts: #6 KitchenAide Mixer

If you want to make your favorite baker, cook, wanna-be-chef, or just about anyone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen, exhilarated this Christmas, buy them a KitchenAide Standing Mixer.
KitchenAide has been around for many years and is 100% made in the USA. If started in the early 1900’s by engineer Herbert Johnson.
There are many other companies who attempt to make cheaper versions of this product, but no one can match the excellence of the KitchenAide name. Remember, that in this case you get what you pay for.
Anyone who has one will tell you how great and long lasting they are. Most of us probably have parents who have had there KitchenAide Mixer for 20+ years. I currently use my mom’s (since the children have fled the coup she has fled the kitchen). I still long for my own KitchenAide Mixer to be under my Christmas Tree one year.
Today, KitchenAide has a variety of sizes and colors to choose from. When purchasing one, go ahead and get the larger mixer. Either the Artisan or Bowl-Lifting Series. I have found that with the smaller mixer some types of cookie dough are just too big for the bowl.
My dream mixer is the Artisan Series Standing Mixer, which holds 9 cups of flour, in Empire Red. 9 cups of flour amounts to 4 loaves of bread, 9 dozen cookies and 7 lbs. of mashed potatoes. Of course, the industrial Bowl Lifting series which holds 12 cups of flour wouldn’t be bad either.
The color variety today is amazing. So those of us who are particular about our appliances matching our kitchen color scheme can find the perfect standing mixer to place on our counter-top.
KitchenAide Mixers can be found just about everywhere. On-line at the KitchenAide Website, QVC and Amazon. On-line and in the store at Kohls, Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Just a quick fyi, I checked Amazon for one of the Artisan mixers–and they have several colors available at $299. But for some reason, the color I just happened to be looking for, Cobalt Blue, is only $199! (it was new, not refurbished). On top of that, the shipping was free too.
