Martha Stewart’s Blueprint

by Tracey Thompson on May 31st, 2006

Martha Stewart has a new magazine out called Blueprint.  I went out and bought the premier issue for Summer. There will be six issues annually.  The idea is simple, that we all need a Blueprint for our life, or rather our home, style, food, etc..  I am not quite sure what the difference is between this and Martha Stewart Living Magazine

From a first glance, I would way that Living tends to usually go rather in depth with a lot of its information.  It is far from being a quick read.  Blueprint MagazineBlueprint, on the other hand, is quick and to the point.  I would say that the magazine is looking to compete with other magazines that have come out in recent years, such as Real Simple

Blueprint magazine seems to be directing its energy towards a younger audience.  I guess Martha Stewart’s demographics are aging with her.  Food-wise there was not a whole lot.  They had an article about a party in a box.  You stash dishes and decorations for a party for 8 in a box so it will be easier for you to have a party.  The hip young editing staff of course must make sure to tell you what your musical play list needs to be.  The recipes were eh, and the article was bursting with product placement.  Most of the pictures were too small and there was too much on each page.  It is a little hard to read quickly and gives you a headache when you look at the pages.  We will see if they will get any more inventive and tasty in a couple of months with the next issue.  For now, save your money and grab some coffee and read through it at Barnes and Noble.

I really like her Food magazine. Tons of great ideas and recipes - simple, healthy, light. Lovely. Plus I admit to a couple of times signing up for the “free” 3 issues. hehe.
