Celebrity Cooking Showdown a No Show

by Tracey Thompson on April 21st, 2006

You have gotten to watch the them dance, you have gotten to watch them play poker, ice skate, and oh, yeah, live in a house together.  But now, the brain child of Sean, P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, pick-a-name-for-today Combs and his Bad Boy (aka Bad TV) Entertainment has brought us celebrities…cooking.  Yes, cooking.  The showdown began Monday night with a powerful thud.  After only three airings NBC has made one intelligent decision and decided to pull the misconceived yawn fest.

I am sure we have all wondered how it would be to watch a celebrity cook.  I know I dream of it every night.  Wow, watching celebrities fix a meal, of which they didn’t conceive, of which someone else taught them to cook, oh and that they practiced doing numerous times.  They must have realized that there may be trouble so the producers made sure to add those “intriguing” twists.  The missing, ingredient you have to go find in a pantry.  No, let’s make it two; or the ever present Country Crock Side Dishes Clock.  The excitement was almost mind-numbing…zzzz.

Then you can not forget our ever present judges, Colin Cowie…hey, isn’t that Oprah’s party organizer!  Oh, and the masked avenger, Gael GreeneGael Greene.  The two never seemed to agree, one would say that it was incredible, the other looked like they were about to heave-ho.  Then there is you, the audience, with the chance to vote, because of course, you are able to taste every morsel.

Sadly, I actually felt sorrow for our poor celebrities, who worked hard and learned to cook, not for charity, no for fame or glory, just to entertain us, their public.  How were they to know how, to take a word from our beloved host Alan Thicke, “Uber” lame the show would be?

NBC failed to make any acknowledgement of the demise of the show on their website.  Loyal viewers were just surprised when they went to go watch it Thursday night and were treated to a re-run of “Will and Grace”.  Finalist, Miss USA, Chelsea Cooley has attached herself to no press in regards to the incident.  Finalist, Ashley Parker Angel has neglected to update his sites information…things sure move fast in the 21st Century.  Fortunately, finalist, Cindy MargolisCindy Margolis (the most downloaded woman on the internet) has the scoop on her site.  Hm-mm, I wonder who will win.

So, if you didn’t get enough comatose-inducing entertainment, you need to see more eye-popping cleavage and you love to watch celebrities who can learn how to cook, tune in Saturday night, April 22 at 9pm for the (dare I say it) two-hour thrilling (yawn) conclusion of Celebrity Cooking Showdown.
