It is an oft perpetuated myth that opening a bottle of champange has to include drink everywhere and an eye-related safety hazard. A few years ago I was schooled in the art of bottle popping, and as the holiday season is upon us, it’s an important lesson for everyone.

It may seem a little scary to ease the cork off into your hand, but it doesn’t hurt a bit…and you don’t end up wasting any of the precious bubbly.
